OUR WORK
Climate Action Team
The mission of the Climate Action Team of the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter is to educate and inspire our members and the general public in Los Angeles and Orange County to know and engage with climate change issues.
Conservation
Clean Break Committee: Clean Break is a committee of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club that advocates for an end to oil and gas drilling, fracking, and all other forms of good stimulation, production, and distribution in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
Annual Yosemite Trip
Wilderness Travel Course: An annual comprehensive hands-on course for backcountry travelers. Learn to feel at home with wilderness navigation, mountain, and snow travel. Acquire skills in planning, preparation, equipment, and wilderness safety to take you into the backcountry in all seasons, beyond roads and trails, with new friends who share your interest in the outdoors.
Creative Nature Events
Nature has inspired some of the most beautiful poems, stories, drawings, photos, paintings, travelogues, and musical compositions. We invite you to share your creativity by submitting work to our website. Children too!
Even if you haven’t written a poem since 3rd grade or opened a sketch pad for decades, we’d love to see how you express your appreciation of nature.
STAND-LA
STAND-L.A. is an environmental justice coalition of community groups that seeks to end neighborhood drilling to protect the health and safety of Angelenos on the front lines of urban oil extraction. Sierra Club is an ally of STAND-LA and works in support of its mission.
Los Angeles Chapter Sierra Club Camera Committee
Members assist other members in improving their photographic skills through lecture, demonstration, discussion, and participation during meetings which are held 6 times per year. In addition, the Committee often organizes and leads photographic outings throughout the year to local and state-wide photo attractions.
